What is NOBID?

Large-Scale Pilot to Test the EU Digital Identity Wallet

Through the DIGITAL-programme, the European Commission supports large-scale pilots of various use cases in the EU Digital Identity Wallet.

Nordic-Baltic eID (NOBID) is a project that is focused on enabling the use of national eID solutions across the Nordic and Baltic regions. Together with other European partners, we have formed a consortium to conduct large-scale pilots.

The NOBID Consortium focus on the payments use case for domestic and cross border usage.

Our Project

The Payment Use Case

Phone use case

The payment use case is recognised as a key use case based on several rationales, one being the potential extension to the Digital Euro. The use case is based on the existing infrastructure used for bank payments including SCT instant payments as well as traditional account-to-account transfers.

The EU Digital Identity Wallet

Phone use case

The EU Digital Identity Wallet is a collaboration between the EU institutions and the Member States. Member states will be legally obligated to provide a wallet to all citizens, residents, and businesses by 2026.

The wallets will be a secure and easy way to prove who you are when accessing digital services, as well as store and share important digital documents about yourself. Privacy will always be respected; you control what data is shared and who has access to it.

Head to the European Commission’s EU Digital Identity Wallet website to learn more about the project; including its benefits and how the wallet will work, details on the regulation behind the project, info on the Large Scale Pilot projects test-driving the wallets, and the technical specifications making it all possible, plus more.
